Information on the disposal of waste electrical and electronic equipment
In connection with the sale of electrical and electronic equipment, we are obliged to inform you of the following:
1. All electrical appliances that can be used in private households are marked with the symbol of a crossed-out wheeled bin. The symbol of the crossed-out wheeled bin in accordance with Annex 3 of the German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act means that electrical and electronic equipment must be collected separately from unsorted municipal waste.
2. Owners of old equipment must dispose of it separately from unsorted municipal waste. Old equipment must not be disposed of with household waste.
3. Old batteries that are not enclosed in the old appliance, as well as lamps that can be removed from the old appliance without causing damage, must be separated from the old appliance without causing damage before being handed over to a collection point . 4. Lithium-containing batteries can catch fire or explode if handled incorrectly . Handle lithium-containing batteries with care. Avoid mechanical damage, shocks, or impacts. After removing the battery, insulate the terminals by taping them. Damaged, deformed, swollen, or leaking lithium-containing batteries must be placed in a separate transport container at the return point .
5. Distributors according to § 17 ElektroG, i.e. those with a sales area for electrical and electronic equipment of at least 400 square meters, as well as distributors of food with a total sales area of at least 800 square meters who offer electrical and electronic equipment several times a calendar year or permanently offer electrical and electronic equipment and make it available on the market are obliged to take back old equipment free of charge as follows:
a. When purchasing a new electrical or electronic device, distributors subject to the take-back obligation are required to take back, free of charge, an old device of the same type that essentially fulfills the same functions as the new device, at the place of delivery or in the immediate vicinity thereof. The place of delivery is also the private household, provided that delivery takes place there.
b. At your request, distributors will also take back old appliances that are no larger than 25 centimeters in any external dimension free of charge. In this case, the take-back is not linked to the purchase of an electrical or electronic appliance and is limited to three old appliances per type of appliance. If the contract was concluded using means of distance communication , free collection is limited to electrical and electronic equipment in categories 1 (heat exchangers), 2 (screens, monitors, and devices containing screens with a surface area of more than 100 square centimeters), and 4 (large appliances) . The return of electrical and electronic equipment in categories 3 (lamps), 5 (small appliances), and 6 (small IT and telecommunications equipment) and old appliances with dimensions of up to 25 centimeters must be ensured by suitable return options within a reasonable distance from you.
An overview of the appliance categories and the appliances covered in each category can be found at:https://www.gesetze-im-internet.de/elektrog_2015/anlage_1.html
6. For private households, you can return items to municipal collection points in your city or town, for example, at recycling centers or hazardous waste collection points. In addition, if this service is offered in your municipality, you can request collection of old appliances as part of the bulky waste disposal service or dispose of small appliances in collection containers in public places. 7. We would like to expressly point out that end users are responsible for deleting personal data on the old appliances to be disposed of. 8. We are also obliged to provide you with annual information regarding the fulfillment of the quantitative targets in accordance with Section 10 (3) and Section 22 (1) of the German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act.
